Polymancer teaches multiplying polynomials, then makes you use it. A patient owl walks you through the lessons. After that you’re on a quest through three realms, weaving scrolls into spells against monsters that only feel the right kind of product.
How You Play
- Start with the lessons: an area model you can resize, numbers and powers, signs, the box-method “loom” and like terms.
- Head out on the quest. Each turn you choose which scrolls to multiply.
- Every term of your answer strikes for the size of its coefficient, so working out the product is the attack.
- Read each monster’s ward before you cast. A ghost, for example, only feels a difference of squares.
What Kids Practice
- Multiplying polynomials with the area model and box method.
- Combining like terms and keeping track of signs.
- Spotting the difference of squares and perfect square patterns.
- Predicting the shape of a product before working it out, which is what the monsters’ wards demand.
Mistakes That Teach
A wrong answer gets a specific diagnosis of what went wrong, not a plain “try again.” It costs 1 health and halves your focus. Miss the same square twice and the game shows you the answer, which you still type in yourself.
