You’re at least 18, and you’ve said so on your account. Kids are welcome to dream up the idea, but a grown-up has to sign in and send it.
When you send your idea, you transfer to Open Recess all rights you have in it: the idea, the chat, the write-up, and any game we make from them, including the copyright. We can build, change, publish, license or sell them, or do nothing with them, anywhere and forever. You won’t be paid, and you can’t take this back. If a right can’t be transferred where you live, you give us a permanent, exclusive, worldwide, free license to it instead, and you agree not to assert any right that can only be waived.
The idea is yours and doesn’t copy someone else’s game, characters or other work, and it isn’t confidential to anyone. It’s fine to say your idea plays like a game you love. We won’t build someone else’s characters or world.
We build a few each week, and we’ll email you if yours is picked. Most ideas won’t be, and we may not explain why. We don’t keep ideas confidential, and we may already be working on something like yours or make something like it later, with no obligation to you.
If we build your idea and you gave us a name to credit, we’ll try to credit you on the game’s page. We may leave it off, for example to keep someone safe.
This chat is run by Google’s Gemini AI: your words go to Google, and so does any recording, to be turned into text. Google says it doesn’t use them to improve its products, and keeps them for a limited time to check for abuse. Please don’t share a child’s name or anything else that identifies someone. We don’t keep recordings. The chat stays on your device until you press send. Then we keep the words of the chat, the write-up, your account’s email, the name you gave, and a scrambled version of your internet address that helps stop abuse. Deleting your account doesn’t delete an idea you sent, so write to us for that. To have your email and chat deleted, write to hello@openrecess.org. Deleting them doesn’t undo the transfer above.
