Tesoro Craft is an endless world made of blocks, with forests, deserts, snowy hills, beaches and caves to explore. You can dig and build anywhere, and the world is full of treasure chests. Every chest is locked by a little puzzle: a riddle to read, a number lock where each dial is a math problem, or a word to spell.
It plays in English or Spanish, and the reading, spelling and math each set their own level as you go. A five-year-old matches picture words while a ten-year-old reads a story on a signpost and works out how many blocks to walk on a treasure map.
How You Play
- Walk, jump, dig and build with the same controls as other block games: keyboard and mouse on a computer, or a thumb joystick and drag-to-look on a phone or tablet.
- Open treasure chests by solving what locks them. Golden chests need three puzzles in a row and hold rare treasure.
- Break rocks with colored letters and numbers to collect letter and number gems.
- Craft at the crafting table by spelling what you want to make with your letter gems. Special things like lanterns and a treasure compass also need a number made from your number gems.
- Read signposts and answer a question about the story. Some give you a treasure map, with steps like “walk 12 blocks north, then 6 east” to a buried golden chest.
- Make friends with dogs, foxes, llamas, penguins, crabs and more by answering their questions. Up to three follow you and sniff out nearby chests.
- Do three new quests each day to keep your streak going, and fill the collection book with 40 treasures, 16 kinds of animal friends and every word you read.
What Kids Practice
- Reading at six levels in each language: picture words, sight words, riddles, and short stories with a question about them. English starts with three-letter words; Spanish starts with open syllables, the way it’s usually taught.
- Spelling: hearing a word and building it from letter tiles. Younger players get most letters filled in; older ones spell the whole word.
- Math from adding within 10 up through times tables, division facts, fractions of a number and two-step problems, plus counting blocks and directions on treasure maps.
- Missed questions come back a few questions later until they stick. A grown-up can see what was practiced each day in the book, and make any subject easier or harder.
Made by Open Recess
Every block and animal is drawn by code, with no image files, so it loads fast and runs smoothly on older phones. The voice is recorded ahead of time, so nothing robotic reads to your child.
It’s vibe-coded, which means it was built by describing it in plain words to an AI, in this case Claude, and trying it out until it was right.
